Rain, Temperatures, and Stress.

AndrewFromSoCal Nov 27, 2006 12:09 PM

It's a cloudy, semi-rainy 57degrees in Irvine today, and my tortoise is in a shallow burrow he dug under one of his plants. The sun is not out, and neither is he.

My question: Do I bring him inside? I have a sweater box set up for him, but I don't want to stress him out by bringing him inside if not necessary. Do you guys think it's too cold out right now? Th soil is well draining, so that's of no worry, and he has a wooden house in his enclosure that doesn't leak, but he doesn't seem to want to go in there, of course.

Any information and help would be lovely.

I usually bring mine in when it goes below 60F. Mine are all redfoots though and prefer the hotter temps. They do seem a bit annoyed when I take them in but too bad, I'd rather have them inside nice and warm. When they are in, they sulk in the mulch and do not interact with me or each other at all.
