Camel Crickets (aka: cave crickets)

HappyHillbilly Nov 28, 2006 10:59 PM

Anyone know of any reason not to feed camel crickets to reptiles, specifically a nile monitor?

I can't find anything negative about it from searching the Internet. I wanted to make sure they weren't too acidic or something like that.

Thanks!

If they are wild-caught camel crickets, then you may need to be concerned about parasites such as pinworms and nematodes. If they've been captive-bred for a few generations & then tested for worms & come up clean, then they may be a useful feeder insect.

Yeah, I'm talking about wild-caught ones. The thought of crickets having parasites never occured to me. Thanks!

Have a good one!
