Mr. Yahoo, 1 yr old Ornate

rick millspaugh Nov 29, 2006 10:09 AM

Well, just over a year. I had the camera out so I snapped a photo of my Ornate while my wife held him. His blue is just amazing (to me). Will he keep coloring up as he gets older? I was under the impression it took about three years to get full adult color. Anyway, he is awesome, very calm and laid back. He has come a long way from a four-inch long smiley slug to now. Wish he had gotten along with that big female (or versa visa).

Wow what a great guy. I have an Ornate that we got the first of October and is about 14 weeks old. I can't wait to see him grow up and change. I can only hope s/he's as beautiful as yours. If its a girl maybe we can talk???? lol.Congrats on a great uro.

My wife and I both think his color is amazing. Along with the intense blue, we both really like the peach lines in his face. Hopefully, he will keep getting more blue on his body as he grows. This is our first experience with Uro's so don't really know what to expect as he grows.

I'd say expect wonders, Rick! He's gonna color up something beautiful in a couple years.

Again Rick, he is awesome and yes it typically take up to 3 years for full coloration to become intense, thoug hhe is just amazing already! :0)

I have more than a few ornates in the past and just awesome, personable uros; though the females ca nbe very friednly to people, become quite territorial with other ornates, females and males alike. If they are raised togehter from babies, this lessens the chances of this occuring.

I had 2 fat adult females and they hated and would attack other ornates. So, I was talking with Doug Dix (this was a few years ago) and told him, I was going to try placing them with my geryi's (a lot less aggressive uro). Well, these bully females did awesome with the geryis/saharans...both genders as well.

I do not know if this was just pure luck, or what. LOL

He keeps coloring up. That turquoise blue all over will be something to see, not that I don’t like him already! Thanks again for the complements; although other than feed, clean, etc. I had no real part in his color. I actually thought of getting somemore babies to raise up, it was kinda fun. I think the smarter thing to do though is wait until I can breed my own little ones.
