Mazuri Croc "GEL" anyone tried it ??

crocodile_king Nov 29, 2006 04:22 PM

I received a sample container of this today, has anyone tried it??

It looks like you mix the mazuri powder with hot water then refridgerate it over night .... then feed it to fish??

I would like to know if anyone is using this or tried this and how they are using it.

I've used the croc gel primarily for Gharials for over a year and have been nothing but happy with the results. It is also fed out to other species such as Tomistoma with positive results. If your animals are trained, it works well to stick it on the end of a stick and let them grab it. Otherwise, they may have difficulty getting it. Hope this helps.

Hi David,
it would be interesting to hear more details about your experiences with Mazuri in Tomistoma.

David,

Thanks for the info on the Mazuri gel, I have been trying to wean my adult O.t.tetraspis over to Mazuri but im not having much luck for some reason, I thought maybe the gel might give me some options which it just might I just needed to know for sure it was ok to give the gel directly to the crocs like one would the pellets, my dwarfs are shy eaters so gel on the stick wont work maybe fresh fish filled with Mazuri gel.

I have been trying the Mazuri large pellets now for a while, no luck at all, I try in the water, I try mazuri wraped in meat (they actually pick the mazuri out), I have even tried crumbled mazuri mixed into ground meat (they wont touch it).

Pretty weird .... I guess they just really dont want to try the Mazuri!

All my all animals love it though!!

And that is very interesting indeed that you have the Gharials and Tomistoma's eating it!!
