I'm sure everybody in this hobby has the same experience as me. This is not a very popular hobby, so I, (as well as probably everybody else) am known by friends as snakeman. Well, a guy I work out with has been trying to tell me for months about a Reticulated python in Java of 48 feet in length. I would always knod, say ok great, end of convo. Well, today he brought in a newspaper clipping confirming this thing. My mouth dropped. 48' and 8 inches long, weighing in at 983 lbs, this thing is a monster. I wouldn't want to catch that one on a bad day while hungry. So, I came home, and went straight to google and searched for more information on this thing. Theres tons of links, but here's the first one that came up, and has a picture, I thought I'd share it.... Even as a snake keeper, and i have some big burms... this thing is too much.http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3845750/

That one's a couple years old and I'm not clear on the details anymore, but I believe it was more in the range of 28-30 feet long when all was said and done. Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong . Still a LARGE retic by any means.

Saw that on NGC and THAT snake was in the mid 20's. They never did see a snake that big. Would be cool though, wouldn't it?

That is from 2004, they went over and measured it, it was in the mid 20 foot range.

yes, I also saw it many years ago and it was measured out about 20 feet. Isn't there an award of $50,000 or more for the first recorded snake over 30 feet? Still uncollected.
