A question of reproduction .

a_chen_tw Nov 30, 2006 12:15 AM

I have 1.3 adult boas , they are all sexual .

I am now considering to breed my boas next year , theyefore , I have some qustions about breeding boas .

1. As I know , boas need at least 3 ~ 4 years to sexual , my female is about 6 ~ 7 years old and other males are about 4 ~ 5 years old . Do you think their age are suitable for breed next year ? I am just wondering if the female's age will be too old for breed ?

2. What's the best range of weight and leight of adult boas for breed ?

thanks .

your female boa is in no way too old to breed , i have a boa that is 14 and a half years old , and ive had 8 litters from her ,the last three being when she was 12, 13 and 14 years old , so your girl has a good few breeding years left in her yet

Boas have been known to produce even in to their 20s. They are in the prime of their life now they should breed fine. The weight and length is less important than age. The weight needs to be enough to support reproduction in females, males only need enough extra weight to go through breeding, so less weight. If I said they should be 6 feet for example that would not be true for all boas, some are dwarfs.
