My other target species on that road was the desert king. We found this beauty on our first pass, and didn't find another king until we got to the Chiricahuas. This is a young adult male, with very thin light bands. There's a lot of black on the head and on the ventrum also. Unfortunately, the scanner doesn't produce pictures as good as the originals and the colors don't show up too well.

When I finally got the chance to herp that road again, almost two weeks later, I did find a yearling female within 100 yds. of where the first snake was. They are now both part of our collection and we plan to breed them someday.
