ohio laws?

I was hearing something about a new law in ohio that your not aloud to own any kind of snake that will grow over 8 ft. has anyone heard this yet? or does anyone know if it's true?

6ft het for green burmese python
4.5ft albino burmese python
8,6.5,3ft colombian redtail boa
4,2.5ft ball python
18in red sumatran blood python
21in clifornia king snake

the best way to find out would be to contact the department of fish and wildlife for your state. They may also have a website where you can look up the laws yourself.

thanks thats probably a good idea i think my boyfriend knows a site to look up laws. I don't think that this law has been passed yet though.

It could also be a law at the County or Municipal level. Contacting the State authorities alone will not give you information on local jurisdictions.

I'm guessing that it probably IS a local law. I'm also almost positive that we don't have any state laws restricting length. The real problem laws in Ohio revolve around keeping any species native to the state, special permits involved if you do, and the fact that they want you to pitt tag any native species you keep. It wouldn't be so bogus if it didn't also apply to captive born "native species" ... even ones that are obviously NOT wild-caught (an albino black ratsnake, for example!). Here in central Ohio, there seem to be less restrictions on hots than garter snakes. Seriously! Duffy
