Presto...Chango......What the ????

panhead Dec 01, 2006 11:45 PM

Okay. First off let me start at the beginning. I bred my Jolliff line axanthic that was a possible het for albino to an albino. He did prove out to be het albino AKA double het snow.I hatched out 2 albinos, which are double het for snow and 5 VISUAL normals which are also double het for snow. Nothing new so far. The babies are about 5 months old now and growing nicely. Anyway one of the "normals" shed a few days ago. I noticed she seemed a little more silvery while she was in shed. Imagine my surprise when I checked on her after her shed. This is the way she looked after shed. I have no idea what is going on genenically if anything or if this is just a random pigment change. All I know is she is very different at the moment. She seems to be showing axanthic color on her sides but has a faint yellow stripe down her back. Needless to say I am now keeping her and all her siblings to see what may come from this. The photo with the normal is her sibling. Enjoy.

Its a freak thing no one really knows what is going on from what I understand. The mom(color change) is not a pastel.

My Changer?

Most people call the color change balls the IMG (increasing melanin gene) the snake is normal sheds out silver, sheds again looks normal, then from then on gets darker and darker. No one has proven any genetics on them, the color change usually happens around 12-18 months old. The one pictured below is one we had change this summer, he looked amazing, but from what we are told by his new owner he is now normal looking again. Thanks
