final update on my leucy

begunwithaletter Dec 02, 2006 12:06 PM

So, I've posted several times in the last six months about my little leucistic ratsnake with the regurgitation problems. We did a final round of Panacur about a month ago, and for the first time in about five months, things started looking up for little Noodle. He was getting more and more alert, and was able to keep down 1-day pinkies. I was so excited for him, since we'd been struggling for MONTHS with this...

But when I went in to check on him his morning, he was dead. He was active and cruising his tub last night when I did my final check, so it must have happened sometime overnight.

It has been a pretty rough morning for me, since I grew SO attached to him, and poured so much emotion and time into getting him on the path to health... but you can't win them all. We both did our best to fight whatever was ailing him, but he just didn't have the strength to beat it...

Poor little guy...

noodle. I know how you are feeling. I have an adult ghost corn who is having problems with regurging. We did a double round of panacur, seemed to fix the problem. He kept the next mouse down, then regurged this last one. We fed him a medicated mouse today, and will wait to see what happens.

....you did your best and that's what counts. How many people would have just given up without putting in the time or resources? They just don't always pull through.
