I'm looking to hear from other keepers about their experiences with these fascinating animals. I'm scanned literally everything available on the internet (not much) and am anxiously awaiting POTW II this december, which should have a decent section on them. In the area I live herpers are few and far between- I've tried everything to get in touch with more to no success, including taking out classifieds. Thus the net is my primary conduit for information. So I was looking to correspond with other folks who have kept them- I currently have one female, and am in the market for a male, though realistically, with their scarcity, I may have to purchase a freshly imported pair. Anyway, any ideas or thoughts are more then welcome. I'm having a lot of fun with mine- she's calmed down immensely in the little bit I have had her, as well as jumped from 462 grams to 980 grams in the space of about two months...yeah, fast growing. Any responses welcome,
-SWA

some nice captive babies from them. I tried this past season and had lots of copulations and could have sworn both of my females were gravid but no eggs for me. From what I've read they seem to be more productive as they age. I hope as these wild caught beauties get used to captivity they can produce eggs for me. One of my females produced eggs for Jordan Russell and Eric Lee. I bought her and the proven male from Eric Lee. I think only one of the eggs hatched for them. I don't know what happened to that captive bred baby. I heard that Kevin from NERD had some captive bred animals in the late 90's but I have not had much luck getting any info. from him. I think his girlfriend is working with the Papuans now and was trying to breed them this past season but I have not heard or seen anything from her in regard to the outcome. There definately is not much info to go on with this species so we Papuan owners need to share as much data as possible to get captive born babies. Mine all eat great and are not bad to handle once they are out of the enclosure. They are very protective of their space when they are in the enclosure but usually only strike to scare and not to bite. I have some old pictures on my picture gallery of one of my females (username frank k in the snake section) if you want to see my female. She is about 13-14 feet and so is my other female. My breeder male is much more slender and smaller than the females but gets the job done. My other male should possibly be ready to breed this next season so maybe with two males I might have success this year. Let's hope. Well I know I didn't give you much to go on but if you want to communicate email me at junglecarpetpython@hotmail.com. Frank Kincade.
