rate of growth

I thought I posted on this already...

My little box turtle eats a LOT every time I feed him.

One person who saw the pic of Timothy Herman (T. Herman) thought he was 15-25 yrs old.

Will my pet box get far more food than a wild box? At the same age, whatever I name my guy/girl, will he/she be bigger than T. Herman was when I had him?

That's a loaded question...it really depends.

Typically, captive turtles will grow faster than wild individuals. Overall adult size, though, shouldn't change. This is providing that your turtles receive the proper amounts of food, light, and nutrition. I've seen plenty of "stunted" young Box turtles.

How's that for an over-simplification?
