missing gator follow up from below

FLAohHerper Dec 03, 2006 09:58 PM

Well, its been about 2 weeks now and for everyone who knows the story, there has been no follow up or note or anything from anyone...so should I assume that this was NOT animal control? The only thing about that, is that the security card and neighbor told my roommate that it was animal control. So could it be an imposter so to speak? And also the fact they took the pool has got to be illegal...so as said before...still confused and dont know where to start.....

just lettin you guys know.
thanks

Me personaly i can not belive you did not go to animal control within the hour of the discovery of a missing animal. It is your personal responcibilty to discover the where abouts of the missing gator. just a thought now who was it that broke the law.

Ultimately, if you do not have a permit for this animal....then if it is missing, there is nothing you will be able to do about it. If you DO have a permit for the animal (meaning that you went through 1000 hrs of training at a proper facility and have your documentation and got a permit through the state of Florida, then you have a leg to stand on.

Firstly, you should have called the animal control within the first hour. No, they generally should NOT have taken the pool as that was not their property..just the animal. If it has been missing this long, then most likely you should just cut the loss. If you have your permits, go get another animal and keep it better secured.

I understand that I should have done something right away BUT,like i said i was out of town for 2 days after it happened, and also,I dont know which animal control to go to.Here inS.FLA there are a ton, thats what I meant when i said i didnt know where to start...Thats why a note or notice from them would have helped for me to at leaast explain myself and ask what the deal was....

Look bro I don't live in florida so I can't speak for the law there but I'm SURE it's very close to NY law. The animal control officers don't need to explain anything to you. They could walk in like nazi stormtroopers and take any animal they want. If you get caught with an alligator here they will, and do, take every animal in your house even if they are all legal. You can try to get the alligator back but they will laugh at you. I'm guessing you don't have any permits so take it as a loss and do what we here in Ny do....keep things on the down low next time. And as for the pool I can totally see them taking the pool as well. The alligator was in it so they took it. I don't know if it was animal control all I'm saying is that they don't have to tell you squat if you don't have permits.
