Night Light Y/N?

joelf85 Dec 03, 2006 11:22 PM

I have an infrared heating lamp for my snake. Should I keep it on 24/7 or turn it off at night?

I find that if you have a good nighttime temp without the added IR lamp then don't use it. I end up using it for some extra heat at night if the temp drops to a level I don't think is comfortable or the snakes. I Although they can't see the light, it obscures my view of the inside of the tanks and negates the "blue" lamps I use. I don't like relying on the house heater for adding more heat to the tanks but I am still experimenting and waiting for my most current utility bills to see what is most economical. As with most situations it's all relative. Just experiment without stressing your snakes out too much.
