try fancy feast cat food. The fish stuff. There is a type called "sardine and... something else" it has an orange label. It says fish fillets somewhere on the label. You know its the right stuff when you open it. There is actually chunks of fish and whatever else. its not chipped up processed stuff, but WHOLE fish pieces, they love it.

they may also love bacon, peanut butter, ice cream, and the poop of the Situa Canyon Spotted Owl, but that doesn't make them nutritious, or a good idea.

feed a proven, affordable, nutritious diet. feeder insects, feeder rodents. done.

suggesting cat food, dog food, or tic tacs is irresponsible, and ignorant.

check out our Water Monitor caresheet at our site, it covers diet, temps, husbandry, etc.

and be wary of advice given so freely on the internet.

History has shown most long-term monitor keepers that cat food, dog food, and canned monitor foods are bad food items when used as the foundation of a monitor diet. Feeding whole prey items has so far proven to be far better than canned foods.

Someone mentioned a specific brand/type of canned food. It is possible, just possible, that this particular brand/type of food (especially if it is canned whole prey) would work. You should be aware, however, that it is unlikely this food is as good as a whole food item. Additionally, I cannot imagine a canned food that is not also laced with preservatives that I would rather not have my animals consume on a regular basis. Most importantly, you should realize that a healthy monitor will require so much of the canned foods that you will not be able to afford it.

So, I would recommend skipping the canned foods altogether. Go with whole prey items and you are more likely to have success in keeping your monitor healthy than trying canned foods as a foundation to the diet.

Monitors, monitors everywhere
and all the food they ate.
Monitors, monitors everywhere,

If your looking for a convientent food that you can always have avalible, get a big bag of pinkies or mice depending on its size. I've tried the canned stuff for monitors, not only is it not to healthy, but mine hated it alot.
