What does this mean?

Sesha Dec 04, 2006 06:39 PM

On a lot of sites that sell snakes they'll have something like 1.1 or 3.1 or similar listed. What does that mean? I thought it might've meant first generation, first clutch (1.1) but that doesn't always seem to fit.

The Dumeril's Boa I have is a "06 0.1", thus the source of my curiosity. Is this a good designation?

the numbers have to do with the sex of a certain animal/animals

If somebody says, "1.1 Columbian," It means they have two total of that animal.

The first number is males, the second is female. So for your 06 0.1, that means it is a female born in 06, and it was the only one they had. If you look at my signature, it says I have both male snakes, and one of each.

I hope this helped, or didn't confuse you any further.
