NEED HELP BOA NOT EATING!

reddogg1 Dec 05, 2006 08:37 AM

I recently purchased an 02 poss. super salmon in July. She ate twice in August and nothing since. I live in Ft.Lauderedale Fl. where it really doesn't get cold during our so called winter season. She is now courting with a 25% surinam albino. She has lost weight and I am a very concerned. How long can an adult 7-foot boa go with no food? I mean it has been 4 month's since she has eatin. Thanx.

if she has not eaten in 4 months why do you have her in a breeding situation? You have nothing to gain and everything to lose. The added stress will only make her problem worse.

It is not unusual for a boa to not eat when they are breeding. Some of mine eat the whole time, and some refuse food when they are breeding or gravid. I think if you are concerned and she looks as if she is losing weight, you should not breed her this season. Is the male eating ? Sharon

This is not normal and you shouldn't breed when the female is not in shape for it...

What are your temperatures in the enclosure?
