Does anyone know how to get rid of mouth rot. Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Thanks,
Lou

It's been many years since I have had to deal with this, but if I remember right you need to mix equal parts of betadine and peroxide and apply this solution to the infected area/s several times a day. (After cleaning out and removing any of the "cheese" or dead tissue accumulations)

But maybe wait for some other responses before doing this. I may have it wrong or there may be a better cure these days. OR post this in the burmese forum and Rob Carmichael can answer it. He gets a lot of rescues and would know this.

It isn't "Ideas" that fail or succeed,... it is the "Systems" which are instilled to launch and sustain the idea that either fail or succeed.>[Me.]

I cured my super tiger's mouth using Sulmet. It is sulfamethazine sodium 12.5% for livestock. You can purchase at a Feed store. She didn't have mouth rot but she had raw and swollen gums due to rubbing taht could easily have become infected. I used the dosage for chickens in her drinking water for five days (changing everyday). Ritchie also soaked her mouth in the bowl for two days straight which I think helped tremendously. Fastest cure time I've seen in a snake. I use sulfa powder for any external wounds or burns on all of my animals, not just reptiles, and me.
