Tobramycin?

lele Dec 06, 2006 02:09 AM

Anyone familair with it? Using it (drops) for Cyrus eye. This vet says he prefers drops as the ointment can be too easily contaminated. Cy is shedding again so a little unhappy, just hid back though this time. He'll be one year old(!) next Tuesday so doing the spotty shed thing.

Also, anyone know if Vit A level can be determined from bloodwork?

thanks,
lele

It's called Terramycin, and I use the type made for cattle, though it's probably all the same thing. You can get it at major feed stores, works great for eyes and lip problems.

Hi Tyler how's it going?

It's Tobramycin Opthalmic Drops made by Butler - I took the name right off the bottle

I did a quick search for both thinking maybe one was generic, but it seems they are different.

Here's an interesting site where Terramycin is considered "small guns" and Tobramycin "big guns." www.vetmed.wisc.edu/courses/ophthalmology/library/ophthalmic_drugs.htm#smallguns

He was unable to actually diagnose b/c there are absolutely no other symptoms and when his eye is open it works just fine. Even the suggested Vitamin A theory doesn't seem to make sense b/c by now he would likely be showing other signs. I just hope this stuff helps.

these were taken mid November. it has gotten no worse or better :-/
