Nutrition

Does anyone have a way of gutloading fruit flies, what they would be attracted to eating and would be beneficial? I have some baby rudis, and panther babies on the way and I would like to give them the best start possible. Also,Is anybody aware if freezing greens would decrease the nutritional content of them? I would like to grind up my greens that I have in abundance in the summer from my garden, freeze them in ice cube trays and pop them out in the cooler months, defrost them and use them for gut loading my bugs for my chams, but dont know if this would decrease the nutritional value as it is thought with boiling veggies. Any education much appreciated.

Freezing fresh greens may well affect their nutritional value, make them unstable, and they may need to be blanched or treated in some way before freezing. You could check some cooking or informational sites about storing and preserving foods that may give you some other ideas.

There are recipes for gutloading fruit flies on adcham.com and there should also be info on gutloading them on the chameleonnews.com e-zine. The culture media is also a way of gutloading them.
