I have to agree with what "phantompoo" said in your other thread about the spreading of internal parasites. As long as you wash up after handling, cleaning, feeding, etc..., the w/c, you shouldn't have any problems. That includes substrate, water bowl, cage decorations, etc..., too.

I don't know if a gravid snake can be treated or not. I'd imagine that it would depend on the type of parasites (actually, the medicine needed to treat for the parasites) and how far along she is.

Best wishes!

Unless it's an unusually heavy infestation it would probably be best to wait until after she lays the eggs. I strongly recommend getting a Vet's advice, though.

Personally, I'd be a bit leery about "gravid" being used merely for a selling point, if you know what I mean. Especially if the main reason you're considering buying it is because it's supposed to be gravid. Someone in your other thread asked why anyone would be selling a gravid snake. I believe I would wait until after she laid her eggs before I sold her. You can sell one snake now or sell many more later, making more money.

However, it could very well be legit. They may (1)need the money now, (2)not want to fool with the eggs due to lack of time or lack of proper setup, (3)etc... Many dealers just want to make a quick turnaround and not fool with breeding, raising.

Check out the seller as much as possible. If they regularly post on a forum, read their posts, old & new. A person's posts can tell a lot about them.

I hope things work out for the best for ya!

Take care!

It is a WC gravid female. They are imported gravid and sold at a higher price than a WC female normally is. You will see plenty in the classifieds this year.

I tried hard to present both sides of the argument so as not to discourage, but more to enlighten. I don't regularly check out the classifieds because I'm maxed out at the time being with what few I have. Thanks for letting me know!

There are a lot more legitimate sellers than scam artists, in any area of Internet sales, especially in the reptile world, I believe.

Not knowing whether the seller is Bob Clark or Chief Hannibal Cannibal from some African tribe, I thought it might be a good idea to suggest investigating. I certainly didn't/don't mean to discredit anyone. It's just that I care what happens to people.

Have a great day!

meself that definitely had follicles, and appears to have ovulated and is as swollen as "insert joke here"

The only reason i grabbed her is because she is 2000 grams, in great shape and demeanor, and i want some practice with incubating eggs before handling my spider and pastel males x my 3 other 2000 females' eggs.

*happy someone agrees with the PHANTOM !

Good thinking!

Don't tell me I'm the only idiot here that's ever agreed with something you said. Ahh, man! Maybe I'd better go back & read that parasite book again. LOL!!!

Have a good one!
