First refusal of food

jdheff82 Dec 06, 2006 09:34 PM

Well, I tried feeding my girl a fuzzy tonight. She looked at it, flicked her tongue a few times and turned her head. When I approached her with the food, she struck at it in defense and ran off. She's either not hungry or getting ready to start her shed process again. She does have a bluish cast on her head and various parts of her body. So, I'm thinking shed. If that's the case, then she won't eat again for another week or 2. Am I correct with my assumption?

Thanks!

From my experiances i would say some snakes eat at all times, and some will not eat till they are out of the blue and not necessarily shed yet

I almost mentioned that in your other pics. She is definitely getting ready to shed. I still offer food to my snakes that are in shed. i have a couple that wont eat, but most still do. I put them in Deli containers, so they can find the food easier.
Some people dont even try to feed during shed. It is up to you and more likely, up to the snake!

Did you ever find out what that snake was for sure? I was leaning more toward rat snake. It just does not look like an anery bloodred (diffused) corn to me. But, like I said, I am no expert. Did you post on the rat forum?
