collared lizard eggs

Dune315 Aug 08, 2003 03:20 AM

Hi, I'm only 12 years old, and my collared lizard, Sandy, had 5 eggs. I wanted to know if anybody had any information on what to do. I already know that your supposed to use vermiculite as substrate to help incubate the eggs. The humidity should be around 80-85 and the temperature should be around 80-90 degrees. Are the eggs supposed to turn yellow? How do you know if the eggs are fertile or not? How big are the babies when the hatch?
Thank you so much for the information,
Courtney

Try to incubate them at around 85 degrees (not below 82 and not over 87) and try to keep the temperature as stable as possible.

Eggs can change color and turn a bit yellow/brown. As long as they are not muldy and not sunken in you should continue to incubate them (be aware that they can change form a couple of days before hatching).

It can be a bit difficult to tell if they are fertile or not. So again, as long as they look fine continue the incubation.

A newly hacthed C. collaris is around 2-3 inches long.
