I just make a box out of wood. The lid of the box is like this:
First a piece of plastic glass that covers the whole box. I have drilled some holes in it. Then a lid that covers the whole box made out of wood and make it so that it can be shut and also be opend so you can look inside. In the frontpanel I drilled a large hole so the snake can get in . When you make the box a bit smaller then the whole bodysize of the snake they will go in faster. They like to hide in a small space. I put the boxes on the cooler end of the cages so they will be in there for most of the time and come out to warm up
ooops ..forgot to mention that on the front panel I also make a sliding rail same as the glass rail used for cages and a small panel inside that rail that I can close with a hook.
How large are the snakes that you plan to trap?
I have had this idea for a while and plan to use it in the field over a known snake hole. Simple as you can get. Take a 2 liter soda bottle and cut around the body close to the spout. Then turn in around and stick it in the body to resemble a funnel in the bottle's body. Over a hole, the light should attract a snake to enter into it. Maybe some water in it will be enough to attract a snake.
Just so you know...the "trapbox" in this discussion refers to a safe method of keeping a venomous snake in a small part of its cage while the keeper cleans the rest of the cage.
