Hi there! I've a 30" C.C.. He likes spend a lot of time on the dry-land, he likes walk I suppose (lol). Just for curiosity..Can a caiman survive for a long time without water?obviously I mean water for swim not to drink!The 2nd qst is: What about saltwater fish?Should caimans eat just freshwater fish?tnx in advance!

They can go for awhile without water but crocodilians dehydrate faster than most other reptiles so for that reason, they need access to water. I've seen them voluntarily stay out of water for a week or more.

The fish from a saltwater environment are no higher in salt content than freshwater fish. The reason they can live in saltwater is that they have developed ways of ridding their bodies of the excess salt. Similarly, the saltwater croc and the American croc both have more advanced mechanisms for ridding their bodies of salt which allows them to be able to thrive in brackish/higher salt content water where, for example, an alligator or caiman would not.
