Here's a true giant [PIC!]

HighEndHerpsInc Dec 07, 2006 05:54 PM

Here's something just for fun. This is one of our bigger female burmese pythons. She's an albino granite 100% het for huge. She's over 20 feet and 260 lbs now and is only 4 1/2 years old. She's not our biggest gal but she's certainly one of the biggest. Anyway, she hasn't took gravid yet so she's still packing in these huge 60+ pound pig meals. That's my wife's arm and hand behind her body. My wife's a big gal too (5' 10" just to throw in some perspective. We had to lean into her cage to get this shot. Her body is at least a foot and a half in diameter where the remainder of her last pig meal is. Her body continues under the camera a few feet and curves back off to the left of the shot where she is full of digested pig.

Hope y'all like the picture

Howdy Pardner,

No doubt about it, Cents will get this big. All my albino granite lines get huge. And Stewie may surprise you. She may have "sleeper giant-genes" inside.

that is one sexy snake

HighEndHerpsInc Dec 08, 2006 11:16 AM

Yeah, she's only about a foot in diameter when she's empty. I'll throw some pics up after she's done digesting.

Glad you like the pic.

WOW a "only" a foot ha. lol that is still very large. I just cant Imagine Mystique being that big in two more years lol but then again seing her grow 11 feet in 2 years was fascinating too.

It depends as much upon the genetics of the snake, how big their parents and ancestors were/are, as it does upon how much food they get. If a burm comes from a line of ancestors that averaged 14 to 16 feet as full adults, then it's entirely likely that it too will reach these lengths. Though of course there are exceptions as in anything.

Great looking snake!
My plain ol' albino gal has not attained the length of your nice animal, but she's girthy and healthy and was slowing down at a tad over 16-feet when this was taken. This picture was posted previously and is over a year old now. I don't have any pictures of her after a feeding, though. Hoping to haul her out for some handling pictures over the holidays when there are enough folks around for a photo-op. Your "arm" picture reminded me of this old picture, so I though I'd toss it up again. Enjoy.

Very nice looking snake y'all got there. Still a very impressive size, no doubt about it. Anything over 12 feet is always impressive to me even after all these years in this.
