Red Snake?

graynightblue Dec 07, 2006 06:32 PM

The red snake that is pictured at the midle top left of this forum... what is it? My gf wants an all red snake and I can't think of any to suit her. I've showed her dif. banded snakes, but she wants one that is all red... She did like this one I showed her untill she found out it was a rear-fanged snake. Mussarana or something. Thanks all.

That is a high-red Western coachwhip, Maticophis flagellum testaceus.

Both of those snakes aren't really the best starter type snakes. The best, or one of the best stater snakes is the corn snake. A nice bloodred or hypo bloodred would be a great choice, although it takes a few years for them to develop into solid red snakes.
