Thermostat sensor positioning

oldskool28 Dec 07, 2006 09:36 PM

I'm just looking to get some different ideas regarding how some other breeders place their thermostat sensors' on the heat tape . I usually place the sensor about 1/16-1/8 of an inch off the tape itself , so it doesn't get too hot too easy , therfore limiting the belly heat that is supplied . I'm really having trouble "tweaking" one rack so I figured I'd seek some other methods.I don't want it too far from the tape , because needless to say I don't need the heat blaring , and Ball Soup was not in the plans for the breeding season .Here's A Pastel Female Holdback with INSANE ORANGE ...too bad Orange turns to mud color down the road , but what a TOTAL SCREAMER now . Any ideas would be great , and thanks for looking .

i just got a rack from animal plastics and i had the probe directly on the heat cable. the temp wasnt where i wanted it so i moved the probe just next to the cable and im very happy now. by the way animal plastics has great racks and excellent customer service.

Uhhhhhhhh.....how exactly does that limit the belly heat??? You have the temperature sensor ABOVE the heat tape so it takes MORE heat to reach the cutoff temp., thereby making the max. temp. HIGHER.

I don't understand your logic behind that.

Jeff ,

UUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHHH......Thank you so much for your reply , you are always so helpful and always have something nice to say....... right . What's happened here is the rack obviously has some cool spots on the flexwatt(about5 tubs worth) , so some tubs get more heat then others . I SHOULD HAVE CLARIFIED THAT ONLY THE TUBS IN THE COOL SPOTS HAVE LIMITED HEAT WHEN THE SENSOR GOES OFF TOO FAST .This morning I replaced the flexwatt with a new length(without any cool spots) and all systems are a go . Thanks ,
