The earlier thread got me to thinking. Out of the many of us that are on here, and really only work as a way to afford our real passion. How many of you use this forum as a way to pass the 9-5?
I for one, will raise my hand willingly.

OK, I'm busted
. I'm 100% disabled per the V.A. so I have too much time on my hands most days. Here and other forums are good places to learn and communicate similar intersts, when we ain't havin' pi**^in' matches. I'm not really breeding yet, only own three normals so far, but eventually I'll get to it. Not counting on it making me rich. I just LIKE SNAKES
. Just want to enjoy the hobby and deal with what comes along when it gets here. Too old and tired to get to deep into it anyhow LOL.

I will raise my hand to that also ... I work from 7-4 and I spend a good amount of the mornings searching the classifieds talking to other herpers and watching the forums. I have a routine I follow every morning when i get in ...lol.. The people i work with are always laughing cause i always have snakes on the screen....

im a full time student majoring in biology and enviromental science....when i do work, im a cake decorator at sam's club. i notiuced people said wallmart sucked on the other carreer thread...so i thought i'd throw this in since sams and wallmart are owned by the same company...has anyone else ever had a customer treat you like you were a complete moron just bc you worked at walmart/sams, when the actual customer was a total trainwreck? and am i the only person who remembers the rule, Dont F**** with the people who mess with your food?
Not to beat a dead horse, but I can honestly say that I have the highest respect for people that work with the public. I would rather get bit by all my snakes then deal with the A-holes
out there. Just because your having a bad day doesn't give you the right to ruin my day. I am very new to breeding Ball Pythons, but have been keeping reptiles (mostly snakes) for over twenty-five years. I love and have a deep passion for the hobby, but I hope that someday in the future I will be able to make it profitable (not get rich). My wife has been stuck at wal-mart for twenty years and I would love to get her out of there. She is far to young to die inside everyday at the hands of the A-holes. Sorry for the rant, just wanted to get that off my chest. Hope every has a great holiday, espeacially those in retail.
Jeff
P.S. My wife just read this and gave me a big kiss, its paying off already.
tell your wife i said good luck...i only have to deal with food, so i cant imagine how she's coping with this holiday season there, the walmart here is unbelievably crazy. good luck with your snakes, im new to breeding too, and am hoping it can get me away from sams!
Haha, I feel your pain, I worked at a restaurant before the job I have now (Petco) and I have seen people make the waitresses cry before.
It's even worse working at a petstore, though, because not only are there the usual a**holes, but you get questions like this - "I just found out my son hasn't been feeding our gecko, so I think it's been about four months since it last ate, what should I feed it?"
"My turtle's head is falling off, what should I do?"
"Do you carry baby savannah monitors?" -- "No ma'am, we don't." -- "Then what are those?" *woman points to baby leopard geckos with very obviously marked sign saying "leopard geckos" in front of them*
"If I keep this snake in a small cage, it'll stay small, right? I just want it to stay a baby forever!"
"I just got this lizard at a swap meet, can you tell me what it is?" (nine times out of ten it's a baby iguana that looks like it's about to have a heart attack)
My personal favorite -
"Can't you just give the bearded dragons salads and they'll become vegetarian?"
I can't even imagine what Walmart or Sam's club must be like!
