Shedding?

terrytastic Aug 08, 2003 06:53 AM

Hey, I recently bought my 7 year old son a young leo. He is probably about 4 inches from head to tail (the leo, not my son (",) heh). I have a Blue Tongue Skink myself but the only thing I am worried about is that we've had it for about 3 months and it isn't showing any signs of shedding. When we first got him the man at the shop told us he should be due a shed anytime. How often do they shed?

I've gat a humidity chamber set up for him (a bowl of water inside a little ceramic house thing, over the heat mat) is this sufficent? I think its giving my son a semi-nervous breakdown!!! He is so devoted to the little guy its unbelievable. I just wanna make sure he is ok.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Terry

an easier way to provide good humidity is to fill the hide with moist paper towels and leave it over the UTH, it's cheap easy and effective...also, the shed happens quick so it's possible to miss it..good luck

It takes less than two hours for the gecko to shed and eat all the evidence, so it's easy to miss. Have you seen the gecko go from being somewhat dull-colored to unusually bright-colored?
