Wild Stripe project

robyn@ProExotics Dec 08, 2006 05:54 PM

we have been goofing around with some Wild Stripe Balls for a few generations now. they don't look like Genetic Stripes, but you know, normal balls, that are striped.

genetically i don't know what goes on, perhaps with such small clutches Balls just don't explain themselves as quickly as something like a Burm with 65 babies at a time. we have bred our Wild Stripes a number of times, sometimes you get nothing, sometimes you get one Stripe baby, sometimes you get partial Stripes...

a few years ago we crossed the Wild Stripe and Ghost, making "double hets". i wasn't sure about that, having the wild stripe carry through a "het" generation, but this year we hatched this Ghost Wild Stripe from breeding those double hets back together. makes for a great looking animal.

we also crossed the stripe into Lessers, Pins, and others, it makes for a nice bonus gene : )

Nice Mojave you have there. The extra wide gaps in the side pattern really catch your eye.

Lucky break with the dorsal stripe or is this animal the product of a Mojave X Co-dom/Dom Stripe breeding?

Thanks for any info and please post updated pics as this one grows. Thanks.

Great looking Ghost you have there.

So you've determined the original Striped ball of that ghost IS genetic and a recessive gene?

Thanks for any info.
It's a battle to try and stay in the know with sooo many new genes popping up nowadays in BPs.

I traded this little guy away and almost immediately wished I had kept him. Full stripe, great eater, dark and intense coloring...but the female Het Hypo that I got in return will be bred this year to a special male, so hopefully a nice clutch will make me forget about this little guy. I have a nice female with a gold stripe, but not as amazing as his. I think the "non genetic" stripe does add to almost any project when it pops up.
