who says there's no stupid question?

I've got a million of them..LOL. Here's one...Is there any difference in the strenght of the different species of kingsnakes? I have a mbk and california king and when I hold them the cali king just seems to be stronger ounce for ounce even though he/she is smaller. I think they're around the same age. Or am I letting my imagination get way from me ..again..LOL

i think its a good question. cant say that i can answer it though. here goes my alcohol induced logic.... considering that Mex. Blk kings and Cal kings are roughly about the same "overall" size, i would have to think that they would have the same muscle build and inconsequently, the same strength - at least in CB animals. wild snakes, depending on locale and terrain could be very, very different.....

Never seen a calking reach mbk size, I think mostly west to east they get stronger and more muscular but the splendida and holbrooki throw a wrench in it.

that's why i reluctantly said roughly the same size.
i've seen plenty of adult MBK's in the 3.5 - 4.0 ft. range. i've also seen a few monster cal kings that were well over 4.5 ft.
i'd love to work with a line of these really big cals...

I know holbrooki stay small cuz I have an '05 and compared its growth rate to my friends '05 Cal King (monster), but do splendidas stay small like holbrooki? Remember seeing hatchlings @ a show and thinking that they were kind of small. Adult size do they compare w/ Cals or MBKs?

cals, they start off small and most stay 4' or so. 5' would be a whopper but they are out there.

No dumb questions, just posts from guys like me... I personally think the strongest snake I have ever held, ounce for ounce or whatever, and this is comparing a lot of variety, was a cribo I had. Not a constrictor, but built for speed, fairly stout build also, but muscle that seemed to me to be very much stronger than any of my kings. Or anything else, for that matter. Seems odd because you’d think the constrictor would be stronger. And I really like kings. Could be I have never had a king aggressive enough to give me the full display of it’s strength, but that Cribo was like steel.

There's a difference between strenght and power.

I think constrictors have great strenght - a constricting King is all muscle - but lack endurance.

Racers/cribos have true power - they are strong -maybe not as strong as a constrictor - but can sustain their strenght for longer. That's power.

Just my opinion.
