Why would you want to put different species in the same cage? It is never a really good idea. Sometimes it is an outright dumb idea. balls with boas will cause stress to both animals. Which could lead to a whole host of problems. If you mess up and put say a ball with a dumerils boa you could end up with a nicely feed dumerils boa and no ball. One snake per one cage is the best idea. If you run out of room you don't get anymore snakes.

I would do what the previous posts says. If you have 1 large cage, you may want to consider selling it, or just let your red-tail have it and buy smaller cages for your balls. It is never a good idea to mix snakes, let alone species. If one gets sick, and you have them together, how will you know the sick one from the snake that, probably, used to be healthy. There are too many health issues for the snakes to go into detail here that could be compromised if you house different animals, let alone different species, which you are referring to, together.

There is an interesting discussion going on in the Anaconda Forum under the title of "Mealtime *PICS*" that discusses housing different species of snakes from a positive aspect. It may be worth looking at, if just to speak to the person who has had success at this. As with anything, there is the "recommended" way to do things, and then there is the way that works for you and your animals. These two things aren't always the same.
Good luck with your animals.

i have lots of different types of snakes and I find it works well to house more than one of the same species together. (i.e. Bp's with Bp's, corns with corns {kings by themselves since they can posssibly eat other snakes).
The only concern as to housing the same species together would be adding a new snake into the enclosure. A recently acquired snake should always be quarentined due to disease, mites, and parasites(worms).
i think it's completly appropriate to house several snakes in a large enclosure. i'm sure they enjoy the extra space to cruise around in.
a very good question,

P.S. It's always, however, to feed snakes seperatly. the snakes could accidently strike at each other, or if you leave the food with them overnight it would be hard to tell who ate.

Thanks for the positive look on things all snakes seem much healthier since combining the two largest and two smallest balls in there larger cages thanks
