I was going thorugh some of your old posts on the old forums from 2003. How is your big alligator snapper doing? Has he grown? Do you have any updated pictures? There used to be a ton of users on this forum that had big alligator snappers.. Are there any left?

I'm not sure but I believe he said he donated Big Red to a park. John Richards has a really cool DVD coming out on big snappers and their domain. I believe he said it was filmed in Louisiana swamps.

Yes, Steve is correct. My large alligator snapper was adopted by a local reptile expert who kept him on display for a while. He has since been adopted by a guy who works at our local zoo and from what I hear is in a private collection. My collection now consists of a nic. slider, a red eared slider/ map hybrid and a pink-skinned alligator snapper (all hatchlings). I also have a family member who owns a pink skinned alligator snapper hatchling.

BTW, it is nice to be back in the turtle world. After my large alligator snapper was adopted from me, I went a couple of years turtleless.

If you don't mind me asking, why did you get rid of him?

I was about to move to a place with restrictions that said I couldn't have a pet. Thankfully, I found a real herp pro to adopt him and it all worked out.
