Stay with fuzzies?

cjhaus Dec 09, 2006 09:39 PM

Our (Spring 2006)Eastern King is over 2 feet now. She takes a FT fuzzy about every 7 to 10 days, although not as aggressively as she used to. She used to snatch it and constrict it immediately. Now she seems disinterested at feeding time, and sometimes doesn't eat for a few hours. It has been suggested that we move to hoppers, but I'm not convinced. Any suggestions?
THANKS!

Maybe she is feeling some outside forces telling her to slow down, photoperiod. Stay with fuzzies 'till spring, my .02.

Thanks for the advice. At least she IS eating, and definitely growing. She has been a GREAT first snake!

She is probobly not eating because her internal clock is telling her its winter, thats perfectly normal.

As far as size when she starts eating again in spring, she should absolutely be moved up to hoppers or small mice. At the very least offer multiple fuzzies. 1 fuzzy every ten days is not enough for a growing 2 foot long snake!
cheers
