I seem to have gotten myself banned from another forum so I will address "Thats a funny accusation, FR would rip you a new one for that, a bosc/argus cross, hahaha... " here.

Yes, quite a few years back someone posted here claiming they had a clutch or two from a bosc & argus. If I remember correctly, they never hatched, but were fertile. They posted pictures of the eggs but not the results??

Also about the same time there was a claim of a successful croc monitor and water monitor mating. This was hard to validate with pictures because the result looked like a water monitor??

Maybe FR can give a little more input since he was here then and questioned them.

Actually, the young man that raised the Sav and argus together did hatch a couple, but I believe they died.

As time goes on, we all learn new things or the possibility of new things. Now its very possible that the two events you mentioned were not crosses, but more likely parthnogenetic events. As this is becoming known in many reptiles that were thought not to have that ability.

In both those cases, the offspring appeared exactly like the mother, and did not express any evidence of a cross.

As I mentioned then, I will again mention now. I have crossed several varanid species, and in each and every case and in each individual, you can plainly see the offspring are crosses. They express traits from both parents. So until the animals you mentioned are actually tested(DNA) they really cannot be considered crosses until proven. Cheers

Before with FR.
Like he said, the offspring looked like mom, and maybe the details are bad, alot of famous crosses seem to happen but proof always disappears when it is asked for, funny isnt it?
The details from the guy who supposedly bred the water/croc cross changed everytime someone asked him about them. Also Mark Bayless proved that the dead hatchling sent to him was nothing more than a water monitor baby. Like I said, the guy told me that he never sucessfully bred any monitors, he said that he breeds snakes, and occasionally sells WC monitors. He sent me in the direction of Pro exotics years ago, when I said I wanted real CBB monitors, no crap or empty claims. Now 3/4 of the dealers out there lie about the WC monitors they sell, what a shame. In fact from 150 phone calls and emails, conversations in person everyone told me to contact Pro exotics or Frank Retes, that everyone else is questionable out there, this was over 5 years ago I was told this.

I bred a Prasinus and Beccari, the male was a green and the female was a black tree monitor. The one egg that hatched looked like the male(prasinus). The hatchling died a few days later.

I have a buddy who lives in my neck of the woods who has several genaration of melinus x indicus. He is now breeding the crosses together. Cool looking lizards!
I am not sure if this pertains to anything your looking for, but it's interesting non-the less!

Thanks Mike. I forgot that you did that. I was just trying to info Shvar about the bosc/argus cross. I think a black/green cross is more believable than a bosc/argus cross because most people agree they are similar.

What are you working with now? Ever get anymore Similis??

Do you think you can get some pictures of those melinus x indicus?? Do you think they are better than just melinus or indicus- kinda like what FR said about flav/argus/gould crosses???

Currantly I have a 1.2 trio of V.Flavirufus, and one V.Similis.
I have seen 7 Similis in say 10 years, 5 of which I owned.
I would LOVE to get some more, they are one of my favorites!
As far as the Melinus x Indicus goes my Buddy is even lower tech then me, so unless I take photos when I go to his house they will remain a mystery........NAH I'll take some photos soon.
