Question about Breeding????

latin1956 Dec 10, 2006 09:00 AM

I have a pair of Het Albinos, well that is what the papers say!. Trying to prove them out. I started to cool them in mid October. The female continues to eat. I placed them in the container lined with paper towels. I have not seen them hooked up! My Irian Jayas are hooked up right now and they were cooled at the same time.

I have noticed on the paper towel spots of blood in several places along with a small yellow wet spot. How can I tell if they have hooked up now. The female weighs in at 1700 grams and seems to be getting bigger. This is my first time dealing with ball pythons, I deal mostly with Hondurans. But I sure like the Ball Pythons. Please any coments will be greatly appreciated. By the way the male has been producing sperm plugs.

Thank you!

Tom

Sounds like you may already have had at least one hookup. I've occasionally noticed small blood spots after copulation. At least,if this isn't the cause you'll want to find out what is! Once breeding activity begins in earnest you almost can't miss it, if you check the pair frequently. They spend a lot of time either actually hooked up or just with their tails wrapped.

At any rate, you still have LOTS of time-the "season" can stretch from October till at least April.

Take care

Congrats! if you are seeing yellow spots and blood it sounds like you just missed the lock up..

Change the paper in case you miss the next lock up you will have the new yellow spots/blood..

Good luck
