Rain dance anyone?

BChambers Dec 10, 2006 09:51 AM

To everyone who lives in and near alterna country-how's the season going so far as precipitation is concerned? Any chance that we won't be dealing with such parched conditions in the coming year? I guess I shouldn't complain-after all walked up my first alterna on a cut this season, and had lots of good high count snake nights. But overall things were a little disappointing. Just wondering.

Take care
Brad Chambers

We had 3/4" of precip on Friday. For us it was mostly sleet and snow. We had about a 1/2" accumulation of messy wet white stuff at our house. Then rain came and washed it all away. Most of this area (including Christmas Mtns & River Road) had about the same, but some were more snow or just rain.

Also, I got a second hand report of 3" snow in Alpine.

Other than that, it has been a very dry fall. Just scattered light rain here and there (mostly there, meaning not at my house).

While it's possible that some areas around Alpine got 3 inches of snow last Friday, I personally did not experience or see that anywhere I was that day. We had a very light dusting first thing in the morning here in Sunny Glen and it was just a very light wintry mix the rest of the day in and around Alpine. Ft. Davis did get more snow than Alpine and I heard news reports of up to the 3 inches mentioned in the previous post. It definitely sounds like south Brewster got more than the Alpine area.

Best I can recall at this point, we have not had any significant precip since the first half of October. Things are pretty dry these days around here for sure.

As of Friday, Lajitas has had 7.57 inches of rain for the year. Not much to look forward to unless they get some spring showers.
