Finicky booger

I think my indigo has developed the attitude of spoiled english tea party attending aristocrat. He IS spoiled. Most of the time he'll eat frozen thawed mice OR rats. Lately he's refusing rats outright and will only eat live mice. He did this last winter too. Only thing I can think is that the light cycle has affected him a bit. That and the snakeroom is a LITTLE cooler (69 - 71F (20 - 21 C.)). He has a good heat gradient in his cage though and went after the mice like no tomorrow so .... ?

Anyone else notice a metabolic slowdown or finickiness in winter ? He's very healthy but, of course it gives me a bit of anxiety knowing how willing he USUALLY is. Probably needless LOL

No worries mate,...it's normal winter behaviour for indigos. Especially, males, and gravid females. Come spring time, he'll be back to his ravenous self. Although it will probably get worse each year as he gets more mature. Some won't eat anything from Oct.- April. Don't sweat it, just go with the flow.

That's kind of what I was thinking. He's pretty new/young (only 4 yrs.) and did this a little last winter.

Still, you get used to a crazy, killer feeding reaction and then it gets lukewarm for awhile and it worries you. I'll get used to it
