Bairdi ate for first time in over 4 mths

jtclark Dec 10, 2006 05:11 PM

Just had to share with people who would appreciate how much better I feel now. She had not eaten since late July. Today I dropped a F/T fuzzy outside her hide. She "drank" some of the water off of it then decided to pull it into her hide. I checked on it an hour later and it was gone. I know snakes go off feed, but this was the first long-term one I have delt with so it is a great relief. Thanks for all of those who have given me advise and encouragment. Now I will probably keep her on small prey until spring and bring her back up to small adults she had been on.

I know how you feel. My ratsnake went off feed for about 3 months. A lot of folks tell me this is quite common with rat snakes. I wouldn't worry about it. Good luck
