I just moved here and am wondering if someone could point me into a good/safe area for san diego, without going into mexico, for herping. I'm still getting used to the whole warm winter thing too.

Head east on HWY-8 for an hour and a half or two, you will be in prime county, but it's not so warm out there, I would wait till March or so, if you want to see any herps.
