New cage finished...

aggieCS_31 Aug 08, 2003 09:24 AM

Here's a (low quality) pic of my new enclosure. I finised it today after about $40 and a few hours of labor. You can't beat that. I don't have a UTH in it, and was wondering if you all thought i would need one? I'm gonna let it set up all day tomorrow so I have an idea of the gradient. Higher quality pics on the way when he's all set up.

Looks like you've got a heat light on there, so you might not need a UTH, but it depends on what you're planning to house.

What kind of material did you use on the inside of the cage?

It's housing a Ball Python. I have everything setup and temps are right where they need to be...He seems to love it, although he's getting ready to shed. I used linoleum type panels to cover the back, bottom, and sides of the inside. I also laid down two sheets of "cage carpet" for the bottom. I'm sure the panels would have worked fine, but i used it for waterproofing more or less.

Looks like you've got a thermometer in there, if you find you can maintain the proper gradient for a BP w/ the heat lite, you're probably safe w/out the UTH. Even if you can't create the right gradient at first, you might try getting a bulb w/ higher wattage before you go for the UTH.

Thanks for the reply, I'm designing a new cage, so I've been looking around seeing what everybody else is using for flooring and siding.
