xblackheart Dec 11, 2006 10:32 AM

It seems only newbies that are posting.

I'm still hanging around but there just haven't been too many posts to respond to.
Most of the posts are handled quite well and aren't in need of my input so I just read everything and only respond here and there.
as far as Christmas shopping goes....for several years now the family has decided to only give cards and let the time together be our holiday cheer.
It's a lot easier on everyone knowing they don't have to spend money they don't have just to try to make everyone else happy.
We just eat, drink and be merry....lol

My wife is baking cookies for everyone...She went to the Dollar Store, bought a bunch of cookie tins that she'll fill up, stick a bow on, and give them as presents...The whole "Give, give, give...get, get, get" really takes away from the true meaning of the holiday season...

And yes, been a bit slow around here, but ya know it will pick up come Spring :*)

The cookie tins is a great idea.
To me that is much better then some sweater or pair of socks....lol

yep everyone has their adults brumating.
Not much to talk about now but come breeding time it will get busy.
We will talk about the successful pairings, then it will be the eggs being lain and finally...HATCHLINGS.

It is amazing EVERY time a snake hatches. It never gets old.

but then everyone will be too busy with the matings, feedings, egg incubating and hatchings, then the hatchlings themselves!! I know I will be busy. This will be my first year with such a large quantity of babies. I will be doing it all alone, plus I work, go to college and have a daughter! lol.

Yeah we do the same. This weekend our house will be a cookie factory. My wife and girls will make oatmeal raisin, chocolate chip, lemon squares, brownies, and etc…All I make are miniatures homemade New York cheesecakes.

I wish everyone in my family would do the gift card thing…..would make everything a little easier.

I make cookies too, my way of thinking is where else can you spend $120 and manage to have presents for 25 households?

I bought a couple people regular presents last year and they thought I was mad at them because they didn't get cookies lol so now it's always cookies!

I make Peppermint Bark, Peanut butter fudge, Chocolate fudge, Butterscotch fudge, Peanut butter tarts filled with chocolate, chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal scotchies, Sugar cookies and peanut butter cookies.

My mom thinks I should make sugar cookies in the shape of my snake lol, it's an idea but I don't think I'm THAT dedicated in it lol. gotta work too ya know.....

We do kind of the same thing Jimmy. With the family getting larger & larger, we pretty much now get gifts for the younger kids only. I agree, it's fun spending time with family and having a good time.
