How many of you have had problems w/ email people sent you through the Kingsnake email function? It seems to have happened quite a bit lately...just curious.

i sent him an e-mail and he never got it. i dont remember the exact date...but i know it was a few days ago. it was a feeding question about a snake i have.

Sounds like the email address for his account is not up to date. If he has an old email address attached to his kingsnake account that doesn't work anymore, then the email you sent through the forum system to him won't reach him. It is highly recommended that users of the site update their account information on a regular basis.

I love how you guys at Kingsnake immediately assume that it can't be your system it must be the user.

Honestly, I have seen numerous times people putting right in their ads "don't email me through kingsnake as the emails don't always come through". There has got to be more to this than just email addresses that are not up to date. I've kept the same address forever...........no really........it's never changed and occassionally an email doesn't come through. It works both ways (sending and receiving).

Generally when I use the Kingsnake email option at the upper left corner of the ad I get a reply from the poster about 85% of the time...no...I'm not keeping metrics. When I email that person a second time I usually get "I never got an email from you". 85% is pretty good I'd just like to know what happens to the other 15% of the emails

So in closing I'd like to request that you guys take a look at your system instead of assuming that we are not updating addresses.

This is where I kiss some butt and make it all better......

I love Kingsnake, it is my absolute favorite website and I just want to see it be better...that's all.

I'll add a couple things to this. Sometimes the email just doesn't come through but there are also times that my email account will slide the initial email to the junk mail folder. This is not a function of my system as I can post an add, get five replies four of which hit my inbox and the last being detected as junk mail. Coming from the same system one would think that they would all go one place or the other so I tend to agree that there is some function within the site that causes the misrouting. Knowing a little about networks this might just be a security trade off and if so it’s likely well worth the inconvenience. On my end I've learned to keep my junk mail folder cleaned up and if I have adds posted I check it for inquiries regularly.

You don't have get all nasty. You asked a question and there was not enough information to go by so I asked for more information. Considering someone else provided some additional information and not you how was I supposed to know that you have always used the same email address for however long you've had your account? I was going by what little information had been given. Under the circumstances, the majority of the time when people come to us with problems using the contact system and having emails fail to go through it's because the person on the receiving end has changed email addresses since they originally registered and never bothered to update that change in email address for their user account. Other times it's likely because the person on the receiving end has opted to NOT receive emails through the contact system or it's because somewhere along the internet travel route email is being delayed or outright lost or more often than not being blocked/filtered as spam by your ISP. Some ISPs such as AOL & Yahoo have even started blocking some email from many websites if those websites haven't paid for the privalege to have it delivered to that ISPs customers inboxes.
