24 days from last lock up she laid eggs

claudeballs Dec 11, 2006 06:37 PM

I got a new female last Feb. She wouldn't eat so in April I put my 05 Albino male 750g in with her.Thought it might stimulate her to eat. They locked up yeeha! 24 days later she laid 2 good eggs and 4 slugs. The babies look a little different.
What do you guys think they are ? Photo was taken April 29th. This was my first clutch ever.

What are they?

They look like Dirty Pastels, and I mean that in a good way, I like them. Almost have a Sable look to them. What do the parents look like, any newer pics?

I bought 2 possible het albino females that had hatched out looking very grey, but have since turned out pretty normal looking. Have yours retained that color or have they changed. You will have to grow them up and breed them back to the parents to prove them out, only time will really tell. Love the pattern though very nice.

Is it possible she was introduced to a male before you got her in February? 24 days from breeding to egg laying seems a bit short??? Ussually females shed about three weeks after ovulation and then lay eggs about a month later? The whole process from ovulation to egg laying is just under two months. If she laid in April I am thinking she was already bred when you got her. This may also explain why she stopped feeding, why you had two slugs, and abberrant hatchlings.

I know the time line was very short. That would also explain why she wasn't eating. But she was locked up on April 10th. Would she lock up with a small male after ovulating?

You say the photo of the hatchlings was taken April 29th. How could they have hatched out the same month the eggs were laid? Also, she must have been bred to something else before you got her. Many snakes will continue to breed even after ovulation. Where did you acquire her?

I got the snake in Feb. and in May after she laid I called his number and he was off to college. The mother doesn't have the spot on the stripe just behind the head.

Dad?

Looks like it has a big time Labyrinth pattern to it in that pic. The female is in the blue, so hard to tell. Nice looking snakes though.

They look like chain link balls (unproven) VERY nice. If they are females keep them.

Both babies are female. I wish one were male to breed back to mom. I have a Spider,a Lemon Pastel,a Lesser, and a Yellow Belly. Who to breed her ? I am leaning toward the Yellow Belly.
