I am considering getting a new kingsnake and I'm having trouble deciding which to choose. A local pet store has a few knoblochis and a hypo brooksi. I never knew what people liked about the florida kingsnakes because i'd never seen one but i held this one and i really liked it. Another pet store also has an mbk but i was told its not very friendly but Ive heard a lot of good things about them and i like the way they look. I know it's all personal preference but if any one advise on which one to get i'd appreciate it.

I can't really advise you which one to get, But I currently own a MBK and he is great! I am also in the process of purchasing a brooksi because I have heard nothing but good things about them! So I dunno if this helps with your decision or not, but if it were me I would go with the mbk or Brooksi. Good luck and post pics when you get whatever you decide!

I have 5 Brooksi, and all are docile. They are really nice snakes, especially the hypos. 3 of my Brooksi are orange hypos. I have 2 Knoblochis, and I like them also, but I'd choose the Brooksi. They do get a lot bigger than Knobs. Derek

Thanks, but it's the Camera man. Not the Cameraman. HA! I take a billion shots to get 1 or 2 OK ones. Thank God for digital, so I can get more snakes with the money I save on film. Derek

I like all those kings. I thing the knobs are the prettiest and prefer them based on beauty alone.

Pick the snake that looks the heathiest. Pick the one which has the most meat on it and has the best feeding response. I have had knobs eat better than brooksi or MBK's, so species is not a factor. All 3 are known for a good feeding response. Now its up to you to figure out and decide which individual snake does would fair the best in captivity.

Good luck!

Thanks for the ideas everyone. I am still not sure but I am leaning toward the brooksi. So far someone has advised each one of them. I have eliminated the mbk only because the place that has it has unreasonably high prices and I have like the people at the other place better too. I know a few people with knoblochis and this is the first time i have ever seen a florida kingsnake here in LA so i am leaning towards the brooksi because it is fairly rare to see them here. I'm not sure if I know how to post pictures but i will try and post some pics when I get it,thanks.

Can you guys who have the brooksi give me some information on these snakes. I have looked on the internet but seem to be the only kingsnake without good care sheets. I know their care is basically the same but is there any difference in the care for these? How big are yours? I read some where that they average out at about 5-6 feet and are one of the bigger kingsnakes. Are they known for being docile or aggresive compared to many of the other kings? Thanks in advance,Dylan Frieden.

I have only been bitten by 1 kingsnake. I got a tiny pinch from a scarlet king. I have easterns, brooksi, gbks, pyros, and knobs. Mine are all pretty docile. The brooksi that I have seem to like to be held. Probably due to my body heat, but they are docile. If you walk by their enclosures, they act like a rattlesnake by wagging their tails against the substrate. It's pretty neat. Go for it! Good luck! Here are some caresheet sites. Derek
