....Males do have larger spurs but the spurs on this subspecies are pretty small and the difference between the size of male and female spurs is subtle. Males have thicker tails than femals but the difference is difficult to determine without having both sexes to compare. You can feel the sex organs of the male if you slide your fingers backwards from the vent along the tail. The female has analogous organs that can be fairly large but they do not extend nearly as far down the tail. If you probe them males will probe 6 to 10 scale rows deep and females will probe 2 to 4 scale rows deep.
