Pastels with random white scales?

jmartin104 Dec 12, 2006 01:21 PM

Anyone have any odd-looking pastels with random, pure white scales. Similar to this one - midway down.

Jay,

If memory serves me correctly....there has been a few breeders that have proven the "white sided" dominant (not the white sided as in sugar or calico) that shows up in pastels. I am sure there should be a couple of other breeders that can speak up as well on this. I have a couple of Pastel that have the white sided patches (as well as my new Pastel Crosses have it). Most definitely hold back the animals with the most white as they are gorgeous.

I've seen a few Pastels het Pied with white scales on their sides.

Maybe caused by the Pastel gene, maybe caused by the het Pied gene exerting odd influence as it sometimes does. (Grazianis' Pastels Het Pied and Spiders het Pied, and Ralph Davis's Lesser het Pied are examples I can think of off the top of my head.)

Nice Pastel you have there.
