just some egg pics

Neal_ Dec 12, 2006 08:09 PM

The gravid female Storr's monitor went down before this last weekend and was up Sunday afternoon, looking somewhat deflated. She was very hungry and gobbled up a pinkie and some roaches.

Last night I dug up 5 eggs plus 1 dud.

Thanks for looking.

Great job. My ackies are now starting to copulate as well (tried twice tonight in thirty minutes and succeeded last night), and I have found out that I inacurately sexed them. I also think that my female is already cycling (my "male" that I mentioned looked like your gravid female in the previous post), as she is bloated and shows very little interest in food. The few roaches she did eat were regurgitated. I am thinking-well hoping is more like it-that I should be recieving some eggs in the next couple weeks. I am pretty excited, even though this is a normal part of varanid husbandry and many of you have experienced it before.

Hi Ryan,

Your excitement is normal, but the regurging of food by the female, that doesn't sound normal. Maybe you should ask FR about this.

Cheers

I don't really know why she regurgitated. She hardly ever eats the crickets in the cage, but it may have just been from the excitement of different food. I found it interesting that she ran across the cage to the male before regurgitating. You could see the lump in her throat before she did it. It was probably just a coincidence, though.

I'll check on them tonight. If there is anymore strange behavior, I will ask Frank.
