06/07 Breeding pairs

Gerryssscales Dec 13, 2006 08:13 AM

Here are a few of our pairings for this season, so far so good!

First we have last years DH Ghost X Pastel pairing that produced some smoking Hypo Pastels and a T+ Albino. Hopefully lightning will strike twice and give us another T+ (or two), they've been going at it for a couple weeks now.

Here is a Hypo Pastel and T+ they produced this year, this picture is a few months old, they are much much nicer now!

DH Sunglow X Albino pairing, this girl is swelling up already.

Salmon Poss Het Albino X Pastel:

Albino X Anery Poss Het Snow, these two have mainly been cuddling. Hopefully the drop in temps will kick start these two.

Hope everyones pairings are going well and hope to see lots of pics! Good luck!

Last year you had a T from a pastel X DH Ghost. Man that is awesome. I'm assuming you had no idea that that was coming. I guess your T is 50% het for anery as well. I hope you hit the odds again with that pair, I'd take a surprise like that any breeding season. Good luck and thanks for sharing. Trey Schneller, Schneller Reptiles.

It was not expected at all, I'm hoping she proves out het for Anery as well in a few years. Can you imagine Ghost T , Anery T , T Sunglows, if there are such things?

Hopefully lighting strikes again with a male this time!
Thanks

what does this mean. what do you need to breed to get them. what do they look like.
thanks for your time

I think I as well as everyone else has thought about those combinations with the T positive and I can't wait to see how they turn out. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you on that pair and excited to hear about another random invent in boa breeding this year; hopefully you'll post the good news if you do hit the jackpot again. I hope someday I have something spontaneously pop up in one of my litters, it seems like that would be more fun than knowing you were gonna get a 1/4 albinos, 1/4 sunglow....and so on. Keep us posted. Trey Schneller, Schneller Reptiles

Nice stuff!
You have some of the best Boas offered right now, imho.
I'm at your website frequently.
Do you feed your girls after introducing the males?
Oh, and good luck producing another T
How exciting was that!

How did that T pop up? What are the experts telling you? Do others think that the parents were het. for T . Or maybe a genetic anomaly? Might the offspring carry the recessive T trait too?

Thanks.

Thanks guys, there are some that felt this was just one of those unexplained things that happens in nature. And there are those that felt there could be something going on with the parents that deserves more looking into. With every opinion, everyone agreed that I should hold back as many babies as possible and try and prove the genes out down the road.

I am pairing the parents again this season to see if anything comes from a 2nd litter in the form of T Positive or two. I also held back 2.2 Hypo Pastels and 2.3 Pastel siblings along with the T Positive female from that litter.

I'm no genetics wizard by no means so if I make a mistake here, someone a lot smarter please correct me.

My 1st trial is the pairing of the parents again this season.

Next year, if possible, I may pair up one of the sons (Hypo Pastel) to the mother, see what comes from that.

In about 3yrs, I'll be pairing up the father (Hypo DH Ghost) X daughter (T Positive 50% Het Anery). Along with the siblings Hypo Pastels X Hypo Pastels and Hypo Pastels X Pastels. I'm not much for inbreeding, but feel it's needed and justified here in order to see where this goes.

I'm at the very least hoping for some Hypos & Normals all het T Positives from the father X daughter breeding. Plus if she does prove out to be Het Anery, I should get some Ghosts & Aneries Het T Positives in the mix as well. Not to mention the Hypos Het T Positive Possible Het Aneries, could make T Positive Sunglows.

Maybe someone better at this should review my guesstimates?
Thanks guys!

Your breeding trials will do the trick. I hope that the DH Ghost and the Pastel produce a T again, at least that way you'll not it's not really that spontaneous. I don't think you'll have to worry to much about genetic defects from crossing related animal regarding the T gene; even though its never a good idea, it's the only way to prove out these things, however, the T doesn't have any known genetic defects, at least none that I know of. Like I said earlier, I hope the best this season for your programs. Trey Schneller, Schneller Reptiles
